I got reeled into this wonderful Industry quite accidentally really and now I’m determined to bring the love of all things Seafood to customers across Essex and beyond.
I have always loved Seafood. I have a large family and would always struggle with the quality, quantity and price of supermarket fish. So I decided to start shopping directly from Billingsgate Market. I could view all of the wonderful offerings that had been landed just hours earlier, ask any questions I had and leave with the tastiest fish money can buy.
Word soon got out and friends and family asked me to buy their fish on my trips to Billingsgate. And that is how ‘Billingsgate Fish By Michelle’ came to be.
I quickly realised that the demand for quality seafood was huge across Essex, I created a Facebook page and group to advertise my services and things took off from there.
Over this past few years’ I have built up long lasting relationships and friendships with the Merchants in Billingsgate, allowing me to purchase the best quality Seafood at the best possible prices. Add this to the fact I buy in bulk, means that I can keep my customers prices down compared to the competition.
My business is small and personable. I speak to the customers, answer their questions, order and pick up their fish and deliver it fresh to their front doors.
I truly love what I do and would like as many people as possible to take advantage of my services as once they have Billingsgate fish for dinner, they will never go to a supermarket for their seafood again.
As my slogan reads, One Bite and You’re Hooked!
Why Billingsgate Market?
Billingsgate is the United Kingdom’s largest inland fish market. An average of 25,000 tonnes of fish and fish products are sold through its merchants each year. It is served by almost every port in the United Kingdom. Most of the fish is transported by road directly from the coast and arrives at the market in the early hours of the morning.
Each trading day at Billingsgate Market offers buyers an opportunity to see the largest selection of fish in the United Kingdom. Daily arrivals from the coast and overseas ensure a continuity of fresh supplies with some 40 merchants trading in close proximity in the Market Hall.
The Market complex covers an area of 13 acres and is entirely self-contained.
With over 300 varieties of fish on a daily basis, It really is the place to buy the best quality fish the UK has to offer.
